The 3.5 Watt diode laser cutter/engraver with 3500 mW (3.5 Watt) output is a perfect accessory that adds new abilities to your 3D printer or CNC mill/router, which you can use now in a way you have never done before. A 3.5 Watt purple laser diode (445 nm) that can run continuously without additional cooling gives the Endurance cutter/engraver plenty of power to burn through acrylic, wood, plywood and leather up to 1/4″ (6,5 mm) thick (some experiments showed that it can cut even 1/3” (8,5 mm) of wood and plywood with multi passes.



The ability to work with leather opens up the possibility for translating all those complex intricate designs you have in mind to physical reality. The laser can also be used to ablate material, creating arbitrary 3D relief (something that expensive CO2 lasers cannot do!), though it should be mentioned the high temperature blackens most materials.

SETUP

 

Initial attachment and calibration of the laser should not take more than 30-60 minutes, after which switching from printing to engraving/cutting is a tool-free one-minute task. There is no need for a separate power supply for the laser either. The average 3D printer’s hot end uses significantly more power than this laser draws, so it can simply draw from the same supply.

Endurance laser can be easily installed on any 3D printer or CNC router.
